The after-effects of defoliants on Vietnam War veterans are now well known. Similarly, there are many residual or side effects related to the application of herbicides, for example, the death of fruit trees and vegetables. As the son of a farmer, I realized that such problems were derived from the widespread application of herbicides. Therefore, I determined to develop a reliable and environmentally-friendly material that could control weeds.

Many nations, including Korea, and international NGOs like Greenpeace, currently recommend against the use of herbicides. Furthermore, the production of certain highly toxic herbicides is now prohibited.
